This is my story!

I have a station on Pandora called “hymns.” As I write this blogpost my the station is playing a hymn called “Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine.”  It is a hymn written in 1873 by Phoebe Knapp and Fannie Crosby. As the story goes, Fannie was visiting her friend Phoebe, who had just written a tune but had no words for it.  So she played the tune for Fannie (who was blind) and asked her, “What do you think the tune says?”  Fannie’s response, “This is my story, this is my song. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine.”

What’s your story?

This past weekend at Ephrata Community Church we spent our time during the ministry of the Word in Mark 5, where we saw how one man’s story of his encounter with Jesus was so powerful that it actually opened an entire geographical region of northern Israel, previously closed to the Gospel, to the ministry of Jesus Christ.  That’s the power of a simple story of an encounter with Jesus Christ.  Amazing!

So what is your story?  We value the power of story so much that we are giving you a space to share the way in which God has encountered you.  Let’s honor God, encourage others, and push back darkness by simply speaking of the ways Jesus encounters us.  Share your story at https://ephratacommunity.church/testimony/
