It has been interesting to watch the evolution of the use of the web by congregations and ministries through the years.  Many congregations avoid the use of the web entirely considering it to be too impersonal to be able to reflect the personal relationships that the church is all about while others have utilized the web more fully.

At Ephrata Community Church we have also been through a sort of evolution as well.  We began with a simple web presence with basic information and gradually upgraded with a media center, an app, livestream, and more.

While there has been gradual growth in our use of the web through the years, I think the launch of the latest website in July 2014 represents the greatest one-time shift that we have had at Ephrata Community.  With the launch of the current website we have moved from using the web as a place to dispense information to using the web as a ministry tool.  We see our current website, which will continue to be developed, as a ministry tool that we can use for two primary purposes.

First, we can minister to people who may rarely, or even never, enter our building.  We have the opportunity to minister to those on the mission field, those confined to their homes for various reasons, those who want to investigate Christianity from a distance, and many others.

Second, this website can be a tool that connects the weekend ministry of Ephrata Community Church to daily life as we use this space to reflect on the weekend ministry, the message that was preached, and how it all applies to our lives.

With all that said, Welcome! And “Come on in and make yourself at home.”  Share your comments and insights and let’s make the most of this opportunity.
