El Roi – The God Who Sees

Kevin EshlemanPastor's Blog

In Genesis 16 we discover that Hagar’s life was transformed by the revelation of a single truth about God, she says, “I have now see the One who sees me” (Genesis 16:13).   The personal revelation that God sees each of us can be a real life changer.  Thoughts of being insecure, alone, feeling abandoned, or just being another face in the crowd are all pushed aside by understanding God’s intimate care for us.

It is interesting to consider the fact that, just like Adam and Eve in the garden in Genesis 3, we try to hide from God.  I think it’s the fear of him that causes us to attempt to hide from him.  We’re aware that we fall short of his standard and we are afraid that we will not be accepted by him, so we hide (or at least attempt to).

The amazing thing is, God knows all, God sees all, and he accepts us as we are in Jesus Christ.  No need to be afraid, no need to try to hide, we can just come to him as we are – in full disclosure!

Let me remind you that we are asking God for a greater revelation on the truth that he is the “God who sees.”  Feel free to post your own thoughts, question, and experience as we ask God to enable us to live in the reality that God is the one who see us.
